Zeuke & Wegwerth.
Before 2006 I had never heard of the name „Zeuke & Wegwerth“. At that time I had just sold my Märklin collection, when a friend introduced me to Tillig, the leading TT brand in Germany. It made me curious and I ordered some TT trains and wagons to get an idea what it looked like. Per accident I bought Zeuke wagons from around 1965, which were quite realistic and in a good shape. I would say even more realistic then Marklin in that time. I was interested and I try to find some documentation, but there was not much to find.
I will try to give you an impression of my Zeuke collection. At this moment it is limited to trains, freight cars and coaches. Perhaps I will later add train sets to it, but certainly not tracks and other accessoiries.
But first of all, are trains and wagons from Zeuke & Wegwerth collectable? Yes is my answer, but not as an investment. More as an example of resourceful East German engineering from the sixties, which was the start of a production line from Zeuke to BTTB till Tillig today. Although still available the Zeuke & Wegwerth wagons and trains with original boxes from the sixties are becoming rare. But when you find them they are often in good and working condition.
To give you an idea of how rare some wagons or trains are, I will provide each item with two indexes. One for the rarity and one for the value based on Ebay prices. See "read more".
